Bose Acquires McIntosh, Expanding Audio Portfolio

Bose has acquired the luxury audio brand McIntosh, alongside its subsidiary Sonus faber, in a move aimed at significantly enhancing its product lineup and expanding its presence in the automotive sector. This acquisition allows Bose to combine its 40-plus years of automotive audio expertise with McIntosh's renowned legacy in premium sound systems. The two companies plan to collaborate on developing advanced in-car audio solutions, with McIntosh already designing systems for Jeep models and Bose being featured in a variety of vehicles from automakers like Chevy, Honda, and Cadillac.

Despite the acquisition, both companies will maintain their distinct brand identities and continue to produce their respective products. Bose will continue developing its range of headphones, speakers, soundbars, and automotive audio solutions, while McIntosh and Sonus faber will focus on high-end audio products, including amplifiers, loudspeakers, and turntables. The audio industry has seen significant consolidation in recent years, with several major players like Masimo, Samsung, and Sony acquiring well-known audio brands. Bose CEO Lila Snyder emphasized the potential for innovation and growth in both the home and automotive audio markets, vowing to honor the heritage of McIntosh and Sonus faber while pushing the boundaries of audio technology.
