A coalition of industry leaders from major companies such as Alteryx, Salesforce, Twilio, Box, Kyndryl, and Peraton has submitted a joint letter to the U.S. House of Representatives Artificial Intelligence Task Force, advocating for a redefined regulatory framework for artificial intelligence. The letter emphasizes the necessity of recognizing the distinct roles of AI integrators—entities that enhance and apply existing AI models to develop innovative applications—in addition to the traditional categories of AI developers and deployers. The signatories stress that existing AI policy proposals fail to capture the complexity of the AI ecosystem, which necessitates a nuanced approach to ensure responsible innovation and accountability within the AI landscape.
Public policy representatives from the signatory companies highlighted the critical need for a comprehensive framework that addresses the varied responsibilities of all stakeholders in the AI value chain. They argued that a one-size-fits-all regulatory approach would be inadequate and urged lawmakers to engage with industry experts to develop risk-based regulations that protect consumers while fostering innovation. This call for action seeks to promote a transparent and responsible AI ecosystem that accommodates the diverse roles and contributions of all players involved in AI development and deployment.
