U.S. Agencies Collaborate with G7 on AI Competition

At the G7 Competition Authorities and Policymakers Summit in Rome, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Justice Department's Antitrust Division discussed ways to promote healthy competition in AI-related technology and applications. Convened under the G7 Industry, Technology, and Digital Ministerial Declaration, the summit was led by Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Doha Mekki, who emphasized the importance of sharing U.S. experiences to effectively apply antitrust laws and promote economic opportunities for Americans.

At the summit's conclusion, the G7 issued a communiqué that outlines potential competition concerns in AI markets and establishes guiding principles to promote healthy competition.
