Ambac Sells Legacy Units for $420M

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is helping Ambac Financial Group sell its legacy financial guarantee businesses, Ambac Assurance Corporation and Ambac UK, for $420 million to funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management. Headquartered in New York City, Ambac is a financial services holding corporation. The Debevoise team is led by insurance M&A partners Kristen Matthews and Nicholas Potter, along with capital markets partners Eric Juergens and Steven Slutzky.

Supporting them are insurance M&A associates Jacob Dougherty, Michael Ellis, and Nicole Gany. The team also includes capital markets associates Amy Pereira, Mihir Awati, Kelly Donoghue, Andrew Lee, and Beatrice Techawatanasuk, as well as law clerk Talia Lorch.
