1. Chris Pinney
General Counsel - International, Sedgwick

Chris Pinney is the General Counsel of International at Sedgwick, a leading global provider of technology-enabled risk, benefits, and integrated business solutions. With Pinney’s counsel, the company offers a broad range of resources tailored to clients' specific needs in casualty, property, marine, benefits, brand protection, and other areas. Trusted by respected organizations worldwide, Sedgwick helps employees regain health and productivity, guides consumers through the claims process, protects brands, and minimizes business interruptions. 

Prior to Sedgwick, Pinney solidified his skills in structuring departments by leading many large multinational and multi-disciplined teams of lawyers and non-lawyers to better focus on key strategic drivers. Over the years, he has sat on and advised boards of directors at all levels; overseen transactions of all sizes, both in private practice and in-house; and advised on various legal issues in numerous countries. 

Previously, Pinney was an International GC at Crawford & Company and a Senior Associate at Jones Day before that. Earlier in his career, he worked with Morgan Stanley as a Secondment. Pinney earned a BA in history from the University of Warwick.

2. Tami Stevenson
General Counsel, Crawford & Company

Tami Stevenson is Crawford & Company’s General Counsel, leading the company’s global legal function, which also encompasses compliance and securities. Crawford is the world's largest publicly listed independent provider of claims management and outsourcing solutions to carriers, brokers, and corporations, with an expansive global network serving clients in more than 70 countries. 

Stevenson originally joined as Counsel for Crawford TPA: Broadspire® in 1997, and worked her way up to Deputy GC before her current role. During her time at Broadspire, the business grew to an over $400 million division of Crawford & Company with Stevenson assisting with the orderly transition of all workers compensation claims. As GC, Stevenson oversees the company’s corporate governance, transactional work, and M&A guidance. Today, she has a proven track record of acting quickly when new laws and regulations are passed to keep the company compliant.

Prior to Crawford, Stevenson held several Corporate Counsel positions with a focus on workers’ compensation and property casualty (PC) law. She also previously served for six years in the US Air Force Reserves. Stevenson earned a JD from St. Thomas University School of Law and a BA from the University of Florida.

 

3. Chris Longeway
General Counsel, Kemper Corporation

Chris Longeway is the General Counsel of Kemper Corporation, an American insurance provider that was originally founded as Unitrin, Inc. as a spin-off from Henry Singleton's conglomerate, Teledyne. With nearly $13 billion in assets, Kemper is improving the world of insurance by providing affordable and personalized Auto and Life solutions for individuals, families, and businesses. Today, the company serves over 4.8 million policies, is represented by approximately 22,500 agents and brokers, and has approximately 7,700 associates dedicated to meeting the ever-changing needs of its customers.

Beginning his professional career 29 years ago, Longeway first got his start in 1995 as an Assistant Counsel at Allstate Insurance Company. From there, he went on to Lord, Bissell & Brook, before eventually rising to VP of Legislative Affairs and Public Policy Counsel at Farmers Insurance, his most recent position before joining Kemper. 

Longeway received a JD from Northern Illinois University and a BA in business administration from the University of Notre Dame. 

 

4. Michael Lanza
Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Selective Insurance

Michael Lanza is the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Selective Insurance Group, Inc., a holding company for 10 property and casualty insurance companies rated "A+" (Superior) by AM Best. Through independent agents, the insurance companies offer standard and specialty insurance for commercial and personal risks and flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program's Write Your Own Program. 

With extensive experience in legal, compliance, and regulatory affairs, Lanza has a proven track record of helping clients solve problems collaboratively and creatively while considering the law and all related social, economic, moral, and political issues. Previously, he was a principal at Independent Corporate Advisor and Legal Consultant and, before that, an EVP at QuadraMed Corporation. Earlier in his career, he worked with Sorokin, Sorokin, Gross, Hyde & Williams, PC as an Attorney. 

Lanza earned a JD from the University of Connecticut School of Law and a BA in political science from the University of Connecticut.

5. Bradley Burd
General Counsel, Gohealth

Burd previously served as an outside counsel for GoHealth, before becoming GC of the established national healthcare provider. As an experienced litigator and transactional lawyer within the healthcare sector, he has strategic insights on all elements of the highly regulated and complex industry, and was at the forefront of the Affordable Care Act’s implementation and the handling of its permutations and alterations.

With 22 years of experience, Burd has been with GoHealth since it transitioned from being a start-up into a more mature business – eventually being acquired by a private equity partner in 2012. Previously, he was an Attorney at Meckler, Bulger, Tilson, Marick & Pearson, LLP, as well as Cremer, Spina, Shaughnessy, Jansen & Siegert. 6. Matthew Zimpfer
General Counsel, CNO Financial Group

Matt Zimpfer is the General Counsel of CNO Financial Group and serves as the President of CNO Bermuda Re, the organization’s Bermuda-based captive reinsurer. Since joining CNO in January 1998, Zimpfer has served the group and its financial services business, providing advice in diverse areas such as corporate governance, compliance, reinsurance, M&A, risk management, market conduct and regulatory affairs, labor and employment, and fraud prevention. 

In addition to these roles, Zimpfer also acts as an Executive Sponsor of CNO’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) program and is a founding Member of the company’s Executive Philanthropic Committee. Prior to becoming GC, he served as the company’s Interim General Counsel, as well as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel.

Before joining CNO, Zimpfer was a managing partner at Zimpfer, Klineman & Wright; in-house Counsel at Progressive Insurance Company; and a Law Clerk and Associate at White & Raub, all in Indianapolis. 7. Amelia Larsen
Associate General Counsel, Westfield Insurance

Amelia Larsen is the Associate General Counsel of Westfield Insurance, a leading US-based P&C insurance company with over 2,500 employees and a vast network of independent insurance agents across the country. Founded in 1848 by a small group of hard-working farmers seeking a better way to protect their farmland and community's livelihood, the company has since stayed true to its founders' vision. 

Today, with Larsen’s support, Westfield provides personal insurance in 10 states, commercial insurance in 21 states, and surety products in all 50 states. Before her current role, Larsen was an associate attorney at Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP. Before that, she was an Associate Attorney at McDonald Hopkins, LLC, and earlier in her career, she worked with Squire Sanders as a Litigation Legal Assistant.

8. Terry Burston
Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Amalgamated Life Insurance Company

Terry Burston, Esq. serves as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for the Amalgamated Family of Companies, including Amalgamated Life Insurance Company. Founded in 1943, the company has since grown into a leading provider of comprehensive insurance solutions operating in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. 

As SVP and GC, Burston is responsible for legal counsel, regulatory compliance, and interactions with New York State and various insurance departments, as well as the oversight of all contracts. He brings to the role extensive legal and compliance experience serving with both public and private entities and applying a pragmatic approach to balancing legal, financial, and reputational risks against business interests.

Suzanne Broadbent is the General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer of CapSpecialty®, a leading provider of specialty insurance for small- to mid-sized businesses in the US. The next year, Broadbent was promoted to General Counsel and now advises the CEO, Board, and Company on all issues pertinent to the legal, claims, and information security.

Prior to CapSpecialty, she was a Litigation Attorney in private practice before becoming a Claims Manager for Lloyd’s, London Syndicate. There, she also was an in-house coverage resource for all lines and managed direct actions against the Syndicate, including those involving coverage and bad faith.

Since joining the team in 2015, McTigue has worked in various areas handling legal, contractual, transactional, and regulatory matters. 11. Allie Lin
Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Brighthouse Financial

Allie Lin is the Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Brighthouse Financial — a company on a mission to help people achieve financial security. 12. Sebastian Alia
Deputy General Counsel, Hudson Insurance Group

Sebastian Alia is the Deputy General Counsel of Hudson Insurance Group, a market-leading specialty insurer that offers a wide range of property and casualty insurance products to corporations, professional firms, and individuals through retailers, wholesalers, and program administrators. In his role as Deputy GC, Alia provides diverse legal support for Hudson Pro and the broader Hudson Insurance Group organization. 15. Jessica McGrath

Jessica McGrath is the Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel for CRDN, the industry leader in content restoration services for insured casualties. Today, they offer a full line of products and services designed to meet the unique coverage and claims filing needs of businesses. 

Tiliakos joined Argo in April 2020 as the Assistant General Counsel, Employment and Corporate Matters before advancing to his current role. Previously, he was AGC for Goodman Networks, and prior to that, a Partner in Duane Morris, LLP’s Employment, Labor, Benefits, and Immigration group. In his more than two decades of practicing law, he has worked in the government sector, co-founded a boutique management-side labor and employment firm, and worked in two global law firms. 

Tiliakos serves as chair of the board for A Call to Men. He received his JD degree from New York Law School and his undergraduate degree from Penn State University.

 

19. Chad Helin

20. Tyler Petersen
Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Pekin Insurance

Tyler Petersen is the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Pekin Insurance. Pekin started out in a donated room at the Tazewell County Courthouse, but today they have established a designated claims center in Pekin, along with seven service offices in six different states. They now do business in 21 states, offering an array of insurance products including personal, commercial, funeral pre-planning, and credit insurance.

With close to a million policies, Pekin is founded on the strong belief that the independent agency system serves them well. For his part, Petersen has 20 years of experience, and vefore his current role, Petersen was a partner at Quinn Johnston Henderson Pretorius & Cerulo. Earlier in his career he worked with Husch, Blackwell, Sanders, LLP as a partner. 

Petersen graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law with a JD and from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a BA in finance.

 

21. John Littzi
General Counsel, Coalition

With Kinsross’ support as General Counsel, as well as an expanded line of insurance products and a growing 26-state footprint, CopperPoint is in a strong position to meet the evolving needs of its agents, brokers, and customers.

Previously, Kinross was a partner at Taft, Stettinius & Hollister, LLP. Earlier in his career he worked with Bricker & Eckler, LLP as a partner. He earned a JD from Capital University Law School and a BS in finance from Indiana University - Kelley School of Business.

 

23. Arun Kottha
General Counsel, Unison Risk Advisors

Arun Kottha is the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Unison Risk Advisors, recently established in 2020 through the strategic merging of Oswald Companies and RCM&D. In June 2023, NSI became the third partner company. 

Unison Risk Advisors represents one of the nation’s largest privately held and employee-owned, insurance brokerage and risk management firms. In his role, Kottha oversees legal operations for RCM&D in Baltimore. Prior to his current role, Kottha was Senior Legal Counsel for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and also was previously an Attorney at Cleveland’s Tucker & Ellis, LLP law firm.

Kottha earned his BS from Case Western Reserve University and his JD from The Ohio State University, during which he completed the international ADR law curriculum at the University of Oxford in England. Kottha has been a member of the Board of Appeals in Shaker Heights for nearly 14 years.

 

24. William Schreiner

William Schreiner is the General Counsel of Pronto Insurance, a rapidly growing general agency in South Texas — and now a proud member of Gallagher, a global expert in risk management solutions. Pronto boasts over 160 captive locations in Texas and has recently expanded into the California and Florida markets. With a vision to become an industry leader, the company has made a significant impact on the insurance market through its network of captive agencies, independent agents, and franchise locations.

Prior to Pronto, Schreine first got his start in 1999 as an Associate at Phelps Dunbar. From there, he went on to Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur, before eventually rising to EVP & General Counsel at Assure Holding Corporation, his most recent position before joining Pronto Insurance

Schreine graduated from New York University School of Law with a JD and from State University of New York at Oswego with a BA in communications.

 

25. Ranga Nutakki

Ranga Nutakki is the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Noridian Mutual Insurance, a branch of Noridian Healthcare Solutions, LLC (Noridian) which develops solutions for federal, state, and commercial healthcare programs. Their full suite includes innovative offerings, such as claims processing, medical review, and contact center and provider administrative services. 

Leveraging a collective of decades of experience, the Noridian team designs and implements customizable, high-quality solutions to eliminate common healthcare barriers, enabling access to care. As SVP and GC, Nutakki is responsible for the strategic leadership of the company’s legal function. 

Previously, he was a Senior Associate General Counsel at UnitedHealth Group, and before that an Attorney at Maslon, Edelman, Borman & Brand, LLP. Earlier in his career, he worked with Briggs and Morgan, P.A. as an Attorney. Nutakki earned a JD from the University of Minnesota Law School and a BA in accounting from the University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management.
