On July 10, 2024, IFS, a pioneer in the development of cloud and industrial AI software, disclosed the acquisition of EmpowerMX. EmpowerMX, a Frisco, Texas-based company, is known for its AI-powered aviation maintenance software, which is used by leading aviation organizations such as Delta, American Airlines, Embraer, and MRO Holdings. This acquisition underscores IFS’s commitment to enhancing its industry-specific capabilities, enabling aerospace and defense customers to improve efficiencies, enhance production control, minimize turnaround times, and reduce maintenance costs. Scott Helmer, President of IFS’s Aerospace and Defense Business Unit, stated “EmpowerMX’s established customer base complements IFS’s existing clientele, including Southwest Airlines, Air France KLM, Lockheed Martin, and BAE Systems.”
Helmer also emphasized the synergies between the two companies, highlighting their shared technology vision and sector expertise. EmpowerMX customers will now benefit from IFS's global scale and embedded AI innovation, which aims to maximize asset availability and ensure compliant delivery. IFS, recognized as a leader in enterprise resource planning, enterprise asset management, and field service management solutions, will integrate EmpowerMX's capabilities into its cloud-based platform, enhancing its market position in the MRO sector. The acquisition comes at a crucial time for the aviation industry, addressing challenges such as supply chain disruptions, labor shortages, and compliance requirements.
