FTC Appoints Taylor C. Hoogendoorn and Katherine White as New Deputy Directors

Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew N. Ferguson has appointed Taylor C. Hoogendoorn and Katherine White as Deputy Directors of the Bureaus of Competition and Consumer Protection, respectively. Hoogendoorn brings litigation experience across antitrust, energy, intellectual property, and commercial disputes, having previously worked in private practice and served as a law clerk at all three levels of the federal judiciary, including for Justice Samuel Alito. White, meanwhile, returns to the FTC with over a decade of prior service, including senior roles focused on privacy and consumer protection, as well as time advising the Senate Commerce Committee on related policy matters.

These appointments reinforce the FTC’s focus on antitrust enforcement and consumer protection amid increasing scrutiny of corporate practices. Hoogendoorn and White each offer a mix of litigation and policy expertise relevant to the Commission’s dual mandate. Their backgrounds in both public service and private practice suggest a continued emphasis on both enforcement and institutional knowledge as the agency navigates complex legal and regulatory challenges.
